System Architecture & Design

provides comprehensive systems architecture and design services. Our holistic approach ensures that a proposed system design will incorporate the broad business context and long-term strategic needs that the system will support. This area of service includes components such as:

  • Requirements analysis.
  • Business area analysis.
  • Alternatives identification and analysis.
  • Systems analysis and design.
  • Systems architecture.
  • Data and process modeling.
  • Interface and data exchange analysis.

Our systems architecture and design expertise is reflected in the following engagement list:

  • MTG completed the second phase of a multiphase effort to design and implement the changes required for the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The scope of this effort included an environmental scan, process redesign, technology analysis, and implementation plan. The process redesign developed a vision of a future integrated youth justice environment that included a model of the future in terms of technology, information, process, and organization. The technology analysis reviewed the available technology and developed a plan for acquiring and integrating primary youth applications while preserving the investment in existing applications.

  • The purpose of this project was to establish the blueprint for managing expansion and integration of the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) in Oregon. It focused on the information technology that links the state criminal justice community. The project involved the development of plans for migrating from the current CJIS environment and implementing a future vision of the state's CJIS.

  • MTG assisted an agency that provides information systems, communications, and records management services to several law enforcement agencies within a large western county. On this project, MTG aided in the development of a detailed business process model and integrated data model. The strategic plan was presented to the governance bodies for approval. Subsequent to plan approval, the procurement specifications were completed, and the quality assurance process began.

  • This engagement involved development and implementation of a long-term criminal justice information system architecture, including frameworks for the network, security, applications, and information required by the criminal justice information systems. In addition, a data architecture, messaging standards, and technology standards for state criminal justice systems were defined. Requirements were identified for state criminal justice information systems, including automated fingerprint identification, criminal history, law enforcement message switch, and incident-based reporting.

  • The purpose of this project was to review the current technology supporting mug shot imaging within the state and develop a design for the integration and sharing of images between state and local agencies. Prior to developing the design, a detailed review of the federal and industry imaging standards and technologies was completed. This project resulted in a blueprint and a budget for implementing an imaging sharing system within the state.

  • MTG assisted a state agency with performing a needs analysis for implementation of a new Vital Statistics Integrated Information System.  Work included documenting the current environment, identifying functional requirements, interviewing state personnel, and developing the future vision of the system.  The final products were a conceptual model, system, and functional requirements, a list of potential vendors, and an implementation plan to facilitate the sharing of vital statistics information.
