What Are the Lessons Learned From ECF 4.0?

Jim Cabral, a Senior Manager with MTG, presented "Lessons Learned From the Development and Implementation of the OASIS LegalXML Electronic Court Filing (ECF) 4.0 Specification" at the recent NIEM National Training Event in Baltimore, Maryland.

His presentation provided an overview of the ECF 4.0 information exchange package documentation (IEPD), including the strengths and challenges of building the IEPD on NIEM. It also provided an overview of the architecture described by the specification. ECF describes a flexible, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) that simultaneously fosters both interoperability and local control by implementing courts.

In addition, Jim covered the tools that were used to develop the ECF IEPD artifacts and suggested techniques for enhancing future use of these tools. His presentation concluded with a case study from the Georgia Administrative Office of the Courts on its implementations of ECF and NIEM.
