Strategic Planning and Assessments

  • King County, Washington This engagement included working with the CIO and his staff to update King County’s STP, which provides a strategic direction for the county’s technology programs over the 2006–2008 time period.

  • Ohio Housing Finance Agency, Columbus, Ohio  MTG assisted the Ohio Housing Finance Agency (OHFA) in developing a strategy and implementation plan for fundamentally changing the role of information in the business operations.  The purpose of the plan was to create a road map to assist OHFA in moving from a silo-oriented information management model to one with a higher degree of integration between divisions. 

  • City of Sugarland, Texas MTG is currently assisting the City of Sugar Land with an operational review of the city’s IT department and with the development of a 5 year IT Master Plan.  As one of the fastest growing municipalities in the state of Texas, Sugar Land is seeking to build out the city’s technology infrastructure and support processes significantly over the next few years. 

  • City of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada MTG was selected via a highly competitive process to perform an independent review of VPD’s IT Division.  The VPD IT Division has 15 members to support the police department.  The scope of the project included identifying IT division customers within VPD, identifying opportunities for improving IT division processes and services, identifying opportunities for collaboration with the city’s IT Division, and developing recommendations as needed for staffing, structure, and best practices. 

 

Enterprise Architecture

  • California Administrative Office of the Courts – Under the state's legislative mandated court unification, the California Judiciary has been called on to reengineer its operation and administration, which requires the AOC and the superior courts to dramatically restructure their IT architecture.  MTG is assisting the California courts in defining their IT architecture to support the judicial branch of the future.
  • State of Wisconsin, Department of Corrections MTG was engaged by the Wisconsin DOC to assist in developing a technology architecture.  The assignment included shaping the vision, guidance, development, and implementation practices for technology used by this 9,000-employee organization. 

 

IT Management and Operations

  • Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts – Reviewed the university’s IT environment and strategic plan and defined an approach for the university to utilize in transitioning from its existing mainframe-oriented IT environment to an open systems future vision.
  • Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development MTG facilitated the development of an IT investment management process that identifies and screens projects for agency approval and support.  The engagement set standards for managing projects and created a project management office approach for overseeing and coordinating them. 

  • New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services DCJS engaged MTG to assess the organizational structure and duties of the Office of Justice Information Services within DCJS.  Our efforts involved reviewing the organization, interviewing team members, evaluating the mission and staffing, and making a final recommendation. 

 

Information Security

  • Lane County, Oregon MTG assisted the Lane County, Oregon, Department of Health and Human Services (H&HS) with an information security risk assessment of the county Public Health Division’s critical technology systems with the objective of identifying key threats and areas for improvement. 
  • Kansas Public Employees Retirement System KPERS retained MTG to update a high-level information security risk assessment of the agency’s policies, procedures, and information systems based on an initial assessment MTG provided in 2003.  MTG conducted a comprehensive assessment of the organization, including a review of security and design documents; interviewed key management and administrative staff; and reviewed the effectiveness of security controls.

  • Washington State Legislature, Joint Legislative Systems Committee (JLSC) – Reviewed the development plans for increased computing and data communications support for the Legislative Service Center (LSC) and presented our evaluation of the plan’s validity and reasonableness.
